Growing up in the home that I did, we never had time for gardening because my parents and I were too busy traveling. Living in the country wasn't an exciting thought either, I took pride in my Muskoka, bay front home. However, I started dating a guy who wanted a country home with a rather large garden. After almost two years of convincing me we should build one, i finally gave in. It was a MASSIVE garden, but he started building it in the fall, so we didn't start growing anything until the following spring.

Here are a few pictures of the build:

Starting to measure out the layout

The Layout, all the boards were given a number, this determined the length of the base boards

The outline of the garden!

The boys out back digging up the sod! (I am becoming overwhelmed by how big the garden is!)

Finished for the day!

The untreated wooden beams have arrived!

The gravel is about to be poured!

No turning back now!

Laying out the beams

I am missing a lot of photos. My phone broke in the middle of this project but Kyle worked some very long hours. It was a very hot season and I'm not sure how he managed to complete it! He did, and it looks AMAZING! (Also, I want to point out the fire pit he built earlier that season too!) Anyways, here are some finished photos of the garden.

In my next blog post I will write what we did, and what we grew the following year. It actually turned out to be kind of fun at times!
